Travel Challenge:
This is mainly targeted at my father.
Find the best way you can for me to get from San Diego to Flagstaff, Arizona...
I have had a look but with limited internet time and pesky internet lines it's hard to really look well. Try and hold out on the Greyhounds if you can. And it doesn't matter if you can't find anything; just thought i'd see what you came up with.
I have found a way for a total of around $100.
Thanks!

David.
p.s. anyone can try this if you like...
More Important News:
Katie will be reaching Base Camp Everest on the 13th of April, so keep her in your thoughts for that day. I'm sure she is going as strong as ever. And we all miss her.

Hi Dave, Sorry we haven't been in touch but we've been fetching our bus from Melbourne and then we have been busy working on the house at Mt Pleasant. So the bus is in our yard after a 33 point turn! Must find a better way to get it into the yard!
Hope you're enjoying your time away. Katie should be at Everest Base camp on 14th April from her tour book. It says she started the tour on 2nd April and reaches base camp on day 13. Hope she makes it! We've been showing Lacey pictures of mountains but every time we go past mount Samson she still thinks Katie's climbing that. I'm giving Katie's bug a workout at the moment as there were no buyers so it's getting abit of use....I quite like it actually! Also, would you like a dog when we get home, she's a shaggy dog but lovely and got left with the house when we bought it! poor thing. Her name's Maggie and she's rather cute.
Our trip back on the bus was good and it delivered us safely home with no dramas after ferrying us round the wineries of Victria, past Dubbo zoo and through Moree and the hot artisian baths there, onward to Goondawindi and back to Brizie. poor Geoff had to get used to driving a 40ft bus with a different gearbox through rush hour traffic in melbourne within half an hour of picking it up...but he put in a stella performance and accomplished the task...if not with ease....with good grace!
We'll keep reading your blog as you go.
love ceri and Geoff and Lacey
Hi David ... Following with great interest your travels, both from the blog and your emails to Mum. I have checked various ways of getting to Flagstaff and the lowest price appears to be train (Amtrak). You will need to go via Los Angeles and then an overnight service to Flagstaff. Cost is $87. Return service back to Los Angeles is $71 (again overnight). I have included a lot more detail in the email I sent last night.
All is good here - quieter weekend after the Brisbane to Gladstone last weekend. Rough weather, strong winds and biggish seas, but very enjoyable - except for the bus trip back from Gladstone.
Take care. Have fun.
Love Dad xxxooo
Hard to believe that Katie is amongst one of the few people who you could say are "highest up" in the world today, or maybe even on top of the world today! They'll be one or two , if none, higher than you at this moment. We're thinking of you Katie.
Love Mum
xx
Yes, yes i would like a dog when i get back, thank-you. Good to hear from the Littles. Have fun with that bus and Mt Pleasant house.
David.

...and yeah i got that date confused about Katie's acsent; arrives on the 14th on the 13th day of travelling. I had to think about her at the top twice...bit silly
Hi David.
Been very excited for you on your travels. Reading about all the places has been extremley exciting and makes me want to go overseas anywhere... now.
I think I shall leave your task to your dad, Im not good with maps. Just thought I would say hello, and hope you are having a fantastic, eventful and truly memorable time.
I think we are all missing katie now. Keep safe.
Zoe.
Hey Dave,
Simon's 21st was last night, ended up back at his place at about 3am (with pdon & ToD) with Steve & Anne Poole in fine form.
It was a good night all in all; most of the lads asking about how you were getting on...
Wilco is tomorrow night, which i can't wait for. Could it be the gig of the year? We shall have to wait & see...
I've got to start planning my 21st real soon, still working on a theme & date etc...
That's about it mate, hear from you soon!
And best wishes to Katie too, all the way up there...
Hello to everyone. Hello Zoe, good to see you on here. Yes you should get travelling, its good times. It will be good once Katie starts posting again when she gets down the mountain; i feel a bit vain writing about myself.
Christian, my friend, good to hear from you as well, i'm sorry i missed simon's 21st. Good to hear it was good. I wish i could make yours...ill planning there.
Anyway, i'm off to the Grand Canyon tomorrow and i will do a post about that after, i'm currently in Flagstaff, Arizona. Very nice!

Christian, I think you should celebrate your 21st on July the 11th. Because a party ain't a party if I'm not there.
Katie - Mt Everest. Wow. Dude. Wow.
Dave, I doubt your seeing Larry King was as exciting as my MEETING HANSON yesterday. Email and photos coming soon.
Can't wait to have you both in Europe!

Hi Dave
Sounds like you are having an interesting time. Great.I assume Katie is still rolling down the mountain. Have you heard anything yet.The bus is BIG and was quite interesting to say the least, whilst driving through Melbourne. I think you need to eventually get your licence as you and Katie could have some fun in the future. I am taking Ceri out for her birthday on Saturday night so I was wondering if you can remember the restaurant that you and Katie went to . I think it was in the Valley possibly Tai??? Let me know if you remember.
Go hard
Hello again.
I want to go to a party!!!
All this talk of party and travels has made me jeolous, it could just be ecomonics though making me angry. Oh well.
Happy Birthday to Ceri too for saturday. Have a wonderful day.
Dont you think Arizona just sounds cool.
Have fun at the canyon. Good to hear from you so often.
Zoe.
Hello! Katie is "back down the mountain" in her words and she was the first the make it there from her group! She is healthy and well and in good shape which is good news and good going.
Good to hear from you Geoff. And happy birthday to Ceri as well. I think the restaurant you may be thinking of was Mecca Bah, which was a turkish joint. The address is here and all: http://www.meccabah.com/bris/home.html
Or there is good Thai at 'My Thai' at Rosalie which is good but katie and i didn't go there. But when i went we saw Prince Harry...so it must be good. http://www.mythai.com.au/
Anyway, i'm off to LA tonight via train and then to New York on Friday. Katie said in an email that she would blog soon about her trek which will be excellent.
Talk soon.
David
